Our Story
Lakia Perkins, the eldest of six siblings, was raised by her mother and grandfather. Lakia survived a near-fatal domestic violence incident during her formative years. At age 19, she had a daughter who became an Olympian in 2016. In 2000, she moved her family from Baltimore to New York. She wed in 2002, and this marriage brought forth a second child, who emerged as a scholar and philanthropist. Ms. Perkins started her advocacy in domestic violence, supporting veterans and the housing community in 2017. She remains an advocate, mentor, trainer, and motivational speaker, residing in Mount Vernon, NY positively influencing many in the area. Her desire to serve her community and pour into youth birthed PDG! Project Damaged Goods was built with service and love thanks to Lakia.
